Awesome food at a,cheap price. Service is what you would expect from a Chinese Restaurant.
Good Chinese food, serves local favorites, friendly staff.... can b a lil tough finding parking
Good restaurant.. good service..👍
Very friendly service at Golden Horse, regardless of how much you order or spend. This is good for large groups if you give them a heads up. Family style serving with many courses that offer something for everyone are great. If in a smaller group or alone the lunch specials are spectacular. The servings are very generous with the lunch specials and the prices are perfect for a quick lunch. Quickly served, too.
On our first visit to the City, we wanted a laid-back traditional Chinese food restaurant for dinner. We found Golden Horse near our hotel, and it was exactly what we were looking for! The service was prompt, helpful, and friendly. The food was affordable and filling. Highly recommend for family, singles or couples.
The takeout was decent, the service was awkward. If you order rice and chow mein with your combo, one of them is counting as an item. They don't play that half & half bullsh!t.
Very good very reasonably price food. We have our parties here and they provide white table cloths to make it nicer. It’s a small restaurant. Friendly and our go to place.
Food is abundant
Excellent menu, fair priced, consistent and reliable good food, for decades
Ate here with friends. Huge portions, lots of options. Visited by lots of (Asian) locals, so clearly good price-quality ratio. Simple decor, quick service. Well done!
My favorite Go To Chinese restaurant. Consistently good food and service. Great locale.
One of the only lunch dishes that didn't come with beef or pork, was advised as "Schezwan eggplant with rice" . 20 minutes later it came, loaded with pork. I asked for my soup (supposed to come with meal) and it was a beef soup. I would have specified that I don't eat beef or pork, but again this was one of the few options that it didn't have that written on the menu. They offered to make me a new dish, which I appreciate, but i couldn't wait another 20 minutes, and had an appointment to go to. Hope they can put on the menu, what's in the dish!
Food is fine. Lots of MSG if you don't say anything. Cock roaches ran across the table.
Great service and high quality meal times. Prices can't be beat unless in China. 10/10
I'm a big fan of the Szechuan Chicken Chow Mein at $5.95 lots of flavor at a rock bottom price. Many items on the menu range in price from Won Ton soup at $4.95 to $7.95 for Wor Won Ton. Meat dishes are $8 to $9 including a tasty Szechuan Sizzling Beef at $8.50. Popular with the local ethnic Chinese community so it is possible to order more traditional dishes. My only issue is the bathroom that could be a *tad* more clean and a fresh coat of paint would be a welcome change. The dining area is clean and service is generally fast and pleasant.
Affordable place for solid Chinese food with good portion sizes. Kids loved the beef chow fun and chicken chow mein. Adults enjoyed fried won ton in soup, sauteed pea shoots with garlic, salt & pepper pork chops, rock cod clay pot and chicken fried rice with salted fish.
Solid Chinese local favorite serving great food with fast service. Like others have said, it doesn’t look like much but the taste is fantastic. Had a great lunch and ordered more to take home for later. Prices are super good for the quality of the meals.
There aren't as many of these restaurants as people think. Sunday dinner, family style.
Food was okay. Typical Chinese food. Nothing special. We ordered combo B and combo appetizer. The shrimp fried rice had rice, eggs and baby shrimp. Beef broccoli had more broccoli than beef. Won ton soup litterally had won ton with cabbage in a less than flavorful broth. What topped off my visit is when the workers litterally sat at that table next to us and talked so loud in Chinese I could hardly pay attention to my conversation. And the lady offered to put our leftovers in a container....she literally packed up our food like dog food with all the food mixed together instead of into individual slots separating rice from meat and egg rolls underneath it all. No customer service....smh!!
Good food...unpretentious but tasteful.
Maybe best described as a hole in the wall dining experience!Food: great selection and not small portions (see photo)Overall: would I go back - yes. Why? It is what it is, tasty! In the picture- Lobster, 2 x chicken dishes, beef dish, bok choy, and soup $48!!!
Casual, fresh and real
Good quality Chinese food for lunch and dinner just a 5 minutes or so drive from SF Chinatown. Come here for a family banquet several times a year. The price is reasonable especially since this is San Francisco. Good place to avoid the crowded walk or drive traffic of Chinatown.
For the price you pay the food is consistently nutritional and yummy. There is always some kind of negotiating going on around service. But thats life in The City.
The fried tofu could be a bit better. Too much batter. But the fried noodles is very good.
Purchased 4 takeout dishes: beef with oyster sauce, kung pau shrimp, Chinese veg, and hot and sour soup.Soup good, but shrimp and beef were all green pepper, celery, onion and water chestnut masquerading the very, very small amount of the star ingredient. Not right. Doesn't work for us for about $50.
Food doesn't look that good, but when u eat it, it taste better than it looks. Cheap prices compare to other nearby restaurants. Green beans, beef chow fun, wet porkchop with sauce were both good.
Place has pretty decent food, fast service, and big portions.
Food was delicious, large serves, fast and friendly service
Not a bad place but would definitely not come back.
large menu, good prices, large portions! Can’t wait to eat.
Lovely food and at a great price.
Great food, inexpensive. Use the chopsticks. Why not?
It tastes like cheekiez
They tried to rewrite my bill to get more tip. I felt they were too rude. They are just cheap but one of the worst serving restaurants in SF.
My favourite Chinese spot in the city. I go out of my way to come here for a quick, cheap fix. The Szechuan Chicken Chow Mein is amazing and comes in a big enough portion to leave one person stuffed. Staff are all very friendly, and it's never hard to get a table even at busier times.
Great food and price are very affordable.
If you are looking for a lazy Chinese take out type night this place will not disappoint. I had the Eggplant with pork and a (mild) Spicy Mongolian Beef. Hit the spot. Accepts credit cards. Rice not included. I got take out but the place was pretty filled when I was there. They should really clean the front carpet near register or toss it away. It hasn't been red for a decade I'm guessing.
I have been going to Golden Horse for the past x numbers off years. The people's are nice and kind. They treat the customer with respect.
Great local restaurants. Very economical for being in the heart of San Francisco. Food was excellent and service was okay. My party got a bunch of small dishes and sides instead of ordering combination platters. All of the dishes were extremely good and reasonably priced. Definitely worth going to if you're in the area and looking for some Chinese food without paying a premium price.
Super amazing place to eat lunch. I love the lunch special with 2 items. The chow fun and hong kong style noodles is good. If you know your chinese food this will be a good place to go crazy on the menu. Everything good service is excellent.
One of the few authentic Chinese spots in Nob Hill. Ordered Westlake soup, oyster on a sizzling platter, and ying yang fried rice.
Quick and cheap! It would be 4 or 5 stars if the staff wasn't so rude and the food wasn't so bland. But a takeout order for 4 is ready to go in 10 minutes and is half as expensive as 3/4ths of similar restaurants in sf. By rude staff I mean; cold, pushy, staff members cutting customers while speaking so staff can speak to each other, acting as if customers are not there. By bland food I mean; way light on spices, not the best quality meats, frozen veggies, and low quality Rice's & broths. But overall ok, you get what you pay for with this place. Ok if you are broke and in a hurry I guess
Excellent traditional Chinese food! Great service as well.
Good authentic Chinese food. Large portions for a reasonable price. Friendly owners and staff. I have eaten here a few times when I visit SF.
Had bbq pork wonton soup and special fried rice. Both were very good and the folks were very friendly. A good value!
This is a very good Chinese Restaurant, better than those in Chinatown.
Food prepared with very limited ingredients....celery and carrots, taste is borderline, a lot of food, fast and inexpensive. I guess we get what we pay for.
Cheap price great food.
